The Dutch police, after they discovered a 7,000kg haul of marijuana and hashish in a warehouse near Schipol Airport in the Netherlands – drugs that have a street value of around 40 million euros! Although the country has about 700 “coffee shops” where the sale of marijuana is tolerated, each shop is only allowed to possess a maximum of 500g per venue, and the trafficking of large amounts of drugs is still a very serious crime. This means that the stash discovered could have supplied the coffee shops 20 times over!
-
A Polish man living in Germany who had been suffering from headaches, after he went to hospital to get a cyst removed – and discovered that the lump inside his head was a bullet! He had apparently been shot in the head five years previously at a New Year’s party, but had been so drunk that he hadn’t noticed! The man said he’d suffered from “a sore head for a few days” but that he “wasn’t one for going to the doctors”. The bullet has since been removed.

-
A UK couple returning from their honeymoon, after they were amazed and horrified to discover a seven-foot python in their bathroom. The enormous snake was coiled up in their bath after gaining entry via their toilet, and in fact belonged to their neighbour. The snake had escaped several days earlier and was grumpy, dehydrated and ready to strike! Not exactly the wedding present they were hoping for.
-
Drivers in China, after a traffic jam in Beijing lasted thirteen days! Between Jining and Chaigoubu on the main highway into Beijing there are in-progress roadworks, which were the likely cause of an accident which meant that drivers along a 60-mile stretch of road had to be stuck in their cars. Local merchants who were selling trapped drivers food and water at exorbitant rates, however, had a very good week indeed!
